Our 30 minute recipe

  • 1.

    Cook the pasta

Heat the oven to 200C/ fan 180C/ gas 6 and boil the kettle.

Cook the pasta following pack instructions, reserving 2 tbsps cooking water before draining.

  • 2.

    Fry the sausages

Heat some oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the sausages for 5 mins, or until brown. Remove and keep aside.

Add the red onion and fry for 5 mins

Add a knob of butter and the CHILLI & FENNEL MIX and stir well.

Mix in the SMOKED SALT & CHIVE pot and the passata.

Add the GARLIC VEGETABLE STOCK pot with 120ml of boiling water and mix well.

  • 3.

    Add the kale and ricotta

Add the kale to the sauce and bring it to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3 mins, stirring often.

Return the sausages to the pan then add the pasta and 2 tbsps of ricotta. Stir well.  (Add 1-2 tbsps of pasta cooking water to the pan if the sauce looks dry.)

  • 4.

    Finishing touches

Tip the pasta mixture into a baking dish and top with little dots of ricotta here and there.

Grate cheese on top and bake in the oven for 10 mins, then serve with salad on the side (optional).

Ingredients I wouldn't usually put together so a very successful meal. Will definitely use again

Sarah-Jessica - Jan 29, 2019

Not my favourite, I used spinach instead of kale which was lovely but I found it too fennely & aniseedy will try and make this again and add my herbs as to not make it to strong.

A nice winter warmer.

Clare - Jan 12, 2019

Lovely and reheats well. Makes absolutely loads... Definitely feeds 3 if not 4. Would have again and again. Would be a difficult dish to replicate with all the flavours so definitely worth having a kit.

Alex - Jan 10, 2019

Least fave of all the dishes we’ve tried so far. Too liquoricey from the fennel.

Jane - Jan 10, 2019

Surprised just how filling this was even the kids enjoyed it ????

Claire - Jan 09, 2019

Rachel - Jan 08, 2019

Really tasty. A family favourite.

Sean - Jan 07, 2019

Very nice

Sarah - Jan 05, 2019

This one surprised me. I was bored of sausage and mash so wanted to try something different and it did not disappoint. Delicious.

Karen - Jan 03, 2019

This was nice, a tad fennelly for me but nice. I swapped the kale with chopped Brussels Sprouts as I don’t like kale and I couldn’t get ricotta so I used mascarpone cheese. I used beef stock instead and I topped with three cheeses: cheddar, mozzarella and Parmesan.

Claire - Jan 03, 2019

I loved this, husband didn’t

Sean - Dec 30, 2018

Very yummy

Hazel - Dec 21, 2018

And I don’t like Kale??? Makes loads as well.

Charlie - Dec 20, 2018

Love this dish, the lemon and fennel are an amazing taste with the sausages. One of our faves.

Becky - Dec 20, 2018

It was nice, but I used more passata that it said as the sauce looked a bit dry. Quite fennelly. Nothing special though.

Claire - Dec 17, 2018

good without kale, used spinach.

Richard - Dec 16, 2018

Fennel was too strong

Stephanie - Dec 14, 2018

Jeni - Dec 13, 2018

Julie - Dec 11, 2018

After reading the reviews I substituted spinach for kale and baked the sausages in the oven for 20 minutes before adding them to everything else. The result was very tasty and enough leftovers (after serving two) for another meal!

Siobhan - Dec 11, 2018

Yummy and would easily feed three

Martin - Dec 10, 2018

Quality fodder

Rachael - Dec 06, 2018

Personally I think this would have been better if the I had skinned the sausages and made more of a ragu. I also think the kale needed slightly more cooking as I found it still a bit tough. I would cook this again though

Karen - Dec 03, 2018

Did not like the fennel flavouring but everything else was great

Caroline - Dec 01, 2018

I was a little apprehensive about trying this as I’m not a big fan of fennel and have never had kale before. It was lovely! The melted cheese on top finished it off nicely. Will definitely be ordering this again.

Louisr - Nov 30, 2018

Love it
