Our 30 minute recipe

  • 1.

    Cook the pasta

Heat the oven to 200C/ fan 180C/ gas 6 and boil the kettle.

Cook the pasta following pack instructions, reserving 2 tbsps cooking water before draining.

  • 2.

    Fry the sausages

Heat some oil in a pan over medium-high heat and fry the sausages for 5 mins, or until brown. Remove and keep aside.

Add the red onion and fry for 5 mins

Add a knob of butter and the CHILLI & FENNEL MIX and stir well.

Mix in the SMOKED SALT & CHIVE pot and the passata.

Add the GARLIC VEGETABLE STOCK pot with 120ml of boiling water and mix well.

  • 3.

    Add the kale and ricotta

Add the kale to the sauce and bring it to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3 mins, stirring often.

Return the sausages to the pan then add the pasta and 2 tbsps of ricotta. Stir well.  (Add 1-2 tbsps of pasta cooking water to the pan if the sauce looks dry.)

  • 4.

    Finishing touches

Tip the pasta mixture into a baking dish and top with little dots of ricotta here and there.

Grate cheese on top and bake in the oven for 10 mins, then serve with salad on the side (optional).

Really good. I only used have the fennel mix and it was still a little over powering. Still loved it though. As suggested popped it in the oven with grated cheese. (Oh and sausages need much longer to cook)

I did not like this dish and will not be ordering it again.

Lisa - Dec 04, 2019

Swapped the kale for spinach as we prefer. Easily feeds 3/4 people, great for a nice warming dinner

Best meal yet !!

Jennifer - Nov 22, 2019

Lovely pasta dish although if I made it again I would swap the kale for spinach as the kale was a bit tough

Donna - Nov 22, 2019

Fennel is quite strong flavour in this dish; just not our favourite

DAVID - Nov 22, 2019

I really liked this a lot, but Cook the sausages for more than 5 min, till actually brown, rest of it only warms them a bit, half the kale portion, add more passanta, add more grated cheese, beautiful, new to simplycook but I'm learning

Really good. Added a pepper and made with wholemeal pasta. Gave it a nice nutty edge. Funny it tastes of fennel being a sausage, kale and fennel bake lol

Melanie - Nov 17, 2019

Loved this, as did my whole family! Took much longer to cook than 30 mins but worth it!

Was alright, think it would have been much better with the cheddar but I had none to hand. Also I had to substitute the ricotta with mascarpone.

Needed a bit more passata in my opinion but really yummy.
