We’re taking the much loved burger concept a step further by giving it an Indian makeover. We're taking the sweet, sticky red onion relish of the west and spicing it up with cumin, coriander and ginger while keeping its classic balsamic glaze character. This is a great topping for our Indian masala spiced burger, which is seasoned with a North Indian spice blend with flecks of hot lime pickle. This wouldn’t be an Indian style burger without some spicy potato wedges on the side!

Our 25 minute recipe
-
1.
Make the burgers
First, heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6.
Mix the MASALA BURGER SEASONING into the lamb mince then divide the mince into quarters and shape each quarter into a burger shape. Put them on a plate in the fridge to firm up a little while you do step 2.
-
2.
Get the wedges on
Toss the potatoes with a little oil and the BOMBAY POTATO WEDGE MIX on a baking tray, then cook in the oven for 25 mins.
-
3.
Meanwhile, make the relish
Heat a little oil in a pan over medium-low heat and add the onion. Leave it to gently cook for 8 mins.
-
4.
Cook the burgers
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium heat and then start to fry the burgers for about 4-5 mins on each side. Then put them on a tray in the oven for 5 more mins or until fully cooked.
Return to the red onion, which should be soft and starting to caramelise. Add the RED ONION CHUTNEY and 1 tbsp water and stir well for 2 mins.
-
5.
Serve!
Halve the buns and put them into the oven for 2 mins. Make up the burgers with red onion relish on top and serve them with your side salad (optional), spicy wedges and a dollop of yoghurt for dipping.

Very tasty, the onion relish was amazing with these burgers. I was a bit worried there wasn’t going to be enough flavour in these burgers but I was wrong. Spice was there but not hot, which was good. Will have this one again

Wedges had no flavour but burger was nice
sophie - Dec 07, 2019
Really delicious but could have done with at least 100g extra lamb mince than what was instructed.

Delicious :)

Good balance of flavour. Would probs not follow the timings for the onions and the burger (using 5% fat beef, skipped the oven part entirely and it came out fine)

The worst. So bad it made me want to slap Mahatma Ghandi. I guess it would’ve been ok if you’d never heard of burgers or India. There was about 0.2g of spice mix, enough for approximately half a new potato. It would’ve been a better value meal to fly to India and shove a 2000 rupee note up a lamb’s arse and wait for its charred anus to fall off.
