Our 25 minute recipe
-
1.
Marinate the pork
Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6.
Use a knife to make 4 or 5 shallow slashes along the pork fillet to help it cook evenly.
Mix the HOI SIN SAUCE and the BLACK BEAN PASTE together in a bowl and marinate the pork in the mixture, getting it right into the cuts, then put on a tray and cook in the oven for 20 mins.
-
2.
Meanwhile, make some rice
Cook the rice as per packet instructions.
-
3.
Fry the veg
About 5 mins before the rice and pork are ready, heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the garlic (if having) for 30 secs.
Add most of the spring onions (keep some back for garnish) and the pak choi and stir fry for 3-4 mins.
Take the pan off the heat and stir through the SOY & RED MISO SAUCE.
-
4.
Serve!
Slice the pork into wide slices, then serve with the rice and veg and sprinkle with some spring onions.

fiayo - Nov 30, 2019
Flavours weren’t great to be honest.
Jonathan - Nov 29, 2019
YUM. used cabbage instead of Pak Choi, because Pak Choi is gross
Elena - Nov 28, 2019
Not very impressed, first recipe that gets less than 4 starts for me but my husband said it was quite nice, I guess I might not like those specific flavours
Carly - Nov 26, 2019
Lovely taste but not enough to coat all of the meat. The season for the pak Choi was not pleasant at all
Karen - Nov 26, 2019
Dry
Ellen - Nov 25, 2019
Needed some extra sauce from somewhere to go with the rice, but the Pak Choi was very good!

Enjoyed this
Asha - Nov 17, 2019
Pork flavour is amazing, rice needed something extra as was a little too plain with the dish
Kirsty - Nov 17, 2019
This dish looked so promising but didn’t live up to my expectations. The flavour is more black bean rather than Char Sui. I really love Chinese dishes and char Sui is one of my favourites so this certainly didn’t live up to expectations. Although not terrible and is tasty enough if you want to give it a go. I agree with one of the other reviews that this one needs work to be a little more authentic. 3/5 not amazing not terrible & certainly edible.

Top tip...rest the meat when its finished cooking, but you knew that right?
Sam - Nov 17, 2019
The pork was lovely and tender but we didn’t like the sauce used on the pak Choi, was quite bitter
Holly - Nov 13, 2019
I loved it
Sarah - Nov 13, 2019
I'm sorry to say, but in my opinion this needs work by Simply Cook, the added seasonings etc not nice, ended up binning. Really disappointed as char siu is normally one of my favourites.
AMANDA - Nov 13, 2019
Love simply cook but this probably one of the worst. Veg cooked great, pork cooked great, rice perfect but recipe lacked flavour and depth. Totally disappointing, yack...

Not my favourite ok but doubt we’ll have it again
Gaynor - Oct 20, 2019
Not my favourite dish
Rigs - Oct 19, 2019
Loved it, but in my opinion it needs a little bit of sauce to be spot on. But that is just my opinion.
Beth - Oct 19, 2019
The sauce for the Pak choi had a horrible smell and after taste which meant I had to bin it. Think it might have been the powdered miso? Great method to cook the pork (came out lovely and tender) but it was really salty and the hoisin wasn't the best
Malgorzata - Oct 19, 2019
Very nice and quick to cook ????
Deborah - Oct 17, 2019
Tasty and easy!
Robin - Oct 17, 2019

Rigs - Oct 16, 2019

David - Oct 14, 2019
Flavour profile doesnt work. Quite bland.
Rachael - Oct 14, 2019
That's not char siu pork. This has been the most disappointing of all dishes had so far.
Deborah - Oct 13, 2019
Not for me.
Helen - Oct 13, 2019
I used pork steaks instead of fillet but it worked really well - the combination of black bean paste and hoi sin sauce was delicious
Julie - Oct 12, 2019
Tastes nice
Sarah - Oct 12, 2019
Fab meal!
Gareth - Oct 12, 2019
Pork was a bit tough, my fault. Didn’t absorb any of the marinade flavour.
