Chicken Tinga is the name of the amazing taco filling that can be found at every street-food stand in Mexico City. Our authentic flavours are the deeply smoky, slightly spicy and earthy flavours of a chipotle blend that completely transform simple chicken into zesty chicken tinga tostadas. We ve put a twist on a classic salsa by doing roasted cherry tomatoes mixed with a special salsa sauce to get a lovely sweet but warm heat running through your tinga. This with a smoky BBQ sauce spiked sour cream makes for really different style of wrap. We’ve added plenty of options for you in the ingredients section but it’s just as epic with the short list of 5. Have fun with it!

Cook our delicious Chicken Tinga in just Minutes

We’ve sourced and blended all of the unique flavour ingredients to make our authentic Chicken Tinga. We bring these all together in a recipe kit, which consists of 3 flavour pots; a Chipotle Rub pot, a Salsa Paste pot and a Smoky BBQ Paste pot. Simply follow our recipe, adding a few items from your fridge, to cook this delicious Chicken Tinga in just 20 minutes.

How Our Recipes Kits Work

We provide flavour ingredients:

  • Chipotle Rub
  • Salsa Paste
  • Smoky BBQ Paste

Your shopping list:

boneless chicken thighs
tortillas (preferably corn)
soured cream
cherry tomatoes
Olive oil
Guacamole (store bought or home-made)(optional)
Cheddar cheese(optional)
spring onions(optional)

Our 20 minute recipe

  • 1.

Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Put the chicken in a non-metallic bowl with the zest and juice of 1 lime and the Chipotle Rub. Mix well to coat. Arrange the chicken on a baking sheet and put in the oven for 20 mins, or until cooked through.

  • 2.

Put your tomatoes on another baking sheet, drizzle a little oil over them and roast in the oven for 10 mins until they have softened and blistered a little. Meanwhile, stir the Smoky BBQ Paste through the soured cream and put to one side. Take the tomatoes out of the oven when ready and gently mash them up with a fork, mixing the Salsa Paste through them. Put to one side.

  • 3.

When the chicken is done, take it out and turn the oven off. Put your tortillas in the oven for 1 min to warm up in the residual heat. Slice the chicken into thin strips.

  • 4.

To construct your Tinga, spoon a dollop of guacamole (if using) in the centre of each tortilla, followed by the chicken, salsa and BBQ cream, along with cheese, spring onions (if using). Finish off with a squeeze of lime.

  • 5.

Finally, wrap the tortilla up as tightly as you can and get stuck in! Watch out for the spillage, this is messy, soul food at its best!
