Our 20 minute recipe
Marinate the duck
Pre-heat the oven to 220C/fan 200C/gas 7.
Mix the CHINESE MARINADE and the SZECHUAN FIVE SPICE in a bowl.
Pat each duck breast dry with a paper towel and make 5-6 diagonal slashes in the skin, going just through to the flesh. Season them and place them flesh side down in the bowl of marinade and rub the mixture into the flesh side.
Pan-fry the duck
Place the duck breasts skin side down in a cold, oven-proof frying pan, without oil. Then turn the heat on low and let them cook for 8 mins, or until the fat has melted out and the skin is golden brown. Pour off the fat regularly into a heat-proof container.
Next, turn the duck breasts over to cook the flesh side for 1-2 mins.
Finish it in the oven
Put the pan into the oven (or put the duck breasts onto a baking tray) for 6-8 mins for medium-rare or 10-12 mins for medium-well, keeping them skin side up this time.
Prep the salad
Meanwhile, mix the lettuce, cucumber, spring onions and avocado (if using) together and then serve onto plates and top with the pomegranate seeds.
When the duck is cooked to your liking, remove from the oven and leave to rest on a board for a few mins. Then slice the duck and arrange it on the salads and drizzle with HOI SIN SAUCE.

Lovely meal but I felt it needed more hoisin sauce, it wasn't enough to flavour the amount of lettuce in the bowl.
Lisa - Jul 19, 2019
Loved this do it again

I liked this meal but I added noodles and stir fry vegetables to it. Just based on the box, the Chinese 5 spice mix was a little too aniseedy for me

Need a bit more hoisin sauce and I ended up putting brown rice with it to bulk it up a bit but otherwise really tasty
RITA - Jul 02, 2019
Really are authentic tasting meals!
Lee - Jul 02, 2019
Worse one I’ve had , I could’ve made this myself with just 5 spice

What is wrong with the people leaving negative reviews below! This meal was amazing, so much so I'm planning a dinner party next month for 6 people and have already ordered 3 boxes for it. Please try its gorgeous.

Used in a flatbread as well as a salad and was nice in both
Karen - Jun 13, 2019
Wasn’t in my box so didn’t get the chance to cook it
James - Jun 12, 2019
Just not enough duck compared to salad. Also, no dressing on the salad meant it's basically just eating a massive pile of lettuce. For the expense of duck it's just not up to scratch.
Julie - Jun 12, 2019
Too spicy for me
Gareth - Jun 02, 2019
Poor meal if you like carbs. Skin did not crisp either
Melanie - May 31, 2019
Delicious! I really love fruity salads, however there was way too much salad and pomegranate for just 2 people. I would suggest using half the amount.

Nice for a lunch, for a dinner we had some salad potatoes, we also only used a smidge of the 5 spice as it would have been WAY TOO ANISEEDY. Really nice though worth he above bits.
