Our 20 minute recipe

  1. 1. Make the rice

Put the rice in a lidded non-stick pan with 250ml water. Bring to the boil then turn the heat down to low, cover and simmer for 8 mins. Next, put the sugar snap peas in over the rice, (if using), and then turn the heat off and leave it covered. (If not using the peas, just turn the heat off and keep it covered.)

  2. 2 Meanwhile, prepare the beef

Put the cornflour in a large bowl and mix in some salt and pepper to season it. Add the beef strips (see tip) and mix well to fully coat them in the flour.

  3. 3 Get stir-frying

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wok over medium-high heat and when hot, fry the beef in batches until crisp and browned then remove and put aside on kitchen paper. (Around 1-2 mins on each side.)

Add a little more oil if necessary, then add the STIR-FRY SEASONING and cook for 20 secs, then add the grated carrot and the spring onions. Fry for 1 min, then pour in the HONEY SOY SAUCE with 50ml water. Turn the heat up to get it bubbling and slightly more glazed.

  4. 4. Finishing touches

Add in the CHILLI & GARLIC SAUCE and mix well, then return the beef to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.

  5. Serve

Serve the rice and steamed sugar snap peas with the crispy chilli beef over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds (if having).

Definitely a firm favourite, just as good as from the Chinese, but not as greasy!

Flavour in the beef was lovely but this is quite a dry dish. Felt that the rice needed a little sauce and not sure where the peas fitted.

Not exactly crispy, but tasted amazing.

My absolute favourite recipe so far. Shame it’s been out of stock for so long now that I can’t get it again.

Didn't quite get the crispness but probably didn't coat the beef enough. Despite this, the overall taste was phenomenal. Yum yum yum.

Not the best and the beef just didn’t look half as good as I did on the picture. Least favourite I’ve tried.
