Jerk Chicken4.2/5 (BASED ON 2141 reviews)
Jerk Chicken - the most popular dish to be exported from Jamaica features succulent pieces of chicken marinated in a delicious, fiery jerk sauce and grilled until blackened and crispy. Normally an absolute scorcher with scotch bonnet chillies, we've toned down the heat in ours but kept the flavour big with over 21 ingredients alone in our Jerk Seasoning including allspice, thyme, ginger nutmeg and cinnamon. Incomplete without rice and peas, we show you how to create the authentic side to this Caribbean carnival of a dish in the comfort of your own home. No need to marinate for hours on end, we've packed all the flavour into our three little pots.

We’ve sourced and blended all of the unique flavour ingredients to make our authentic Jerk Chicken. We bring these all together in a recipe kit, which consists of 3 flavour pots; a Jerk Seasoning pot, a Jerk Paste pot and a Chicken Stock pot. How Our Recipes Kits Work
We provide flavour ingredients:
- Jerk Seasoning
- Jerk Paste
- Chicken Stock
Your shopping list:
- skinless chicken thigh fillets
- Basmati rice
- tin light coconut milk
- tin kidney beans
- lime (optional)
- tin sweetcorn(optional)
Our 20 minute recipe
Marinate the chicken
Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 and boil 150ml water in the kettle.
Mix the JERK SEASONING and the JERK PASTE together in a mixing bowl with a drop of oil, then add the chicken thighs and mix well to fully coat.
Roast the chicken
Place the chicken on a baking tray with the lime wedges (if using) and cook in the oven for 20 mins.
Meanwhile, make the rice
Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat and then fry the onion for 2 mins to soften.
Add the rice, coconut milk, 150ml boiling water and the CHICKEN STOCK to the pan and mix well. Bring it to the boil, then cover with a lid, turn the heat down to low and let it simmer for 10 mins.
Add the beans
Stir the kidney beans into the rice then cover it again with a lid and leave it off the heat for 5 mins until all the liquid has been absorbed.
To serve, squeeze the roasted limes over the chicken and serve with your “rice and peas” and some seasoned sweetcorn on the side (if using).

The chicken was very tasty, especially with the lime squished over after cooking, but the rice was rather bland

Fabulous! The 3rd time of cooking it
Jane - Dec 05, 2018
Used salmon instead of chicken. Delicious. However I dont think I like coconut milk and the rice was slimy. And baking the limes made them bitter, which ruined the salmon. Might get again but do my own thing with the rice and use raw limes.

Sauce in the rice and beans wasn’t that tasty so I added some of my own ingredients.

Was sceptical because not a massive fan of coconut! However I put a bit less in and could hardly taste it! Also cooked it with corn on the cob.

Sandra - Oct 31, 2018
Not for me
Lauren - Oct 29, 2018
Chicken was nice. I think for basmati rice, the instructions should say to cook rice as per packet instructions and rice timings can really vary
Tammy - Oct 28, 2018
Not spicy enough to be jerk chicken. Still tasty though.
Alan - Oct 28, 2018
Bland. Lacks flavour. The rice is awful.
Suzanne - Oct 27, 2018
We enjoyed this. Used chicken thighs with skin on and bone so tastier and used arborio rice. The rice was maybe a little on the tasteless side so added salt with chilli and garlic and was lovely. Wondering if people are using cooked rice rather than straight from bag to get the mush ??? Would choose again :)
Christine - Oct 26, 2018
Rice was a disaster too mushy will order again but cook rice in my rice cooker rather than a pan as it says in the instructions. The jerk chicken was nice
Kim - Oct 25, 2018

Becki - Oct 23, 2018

Rachel - Oct 22, 2018
This was very good. I added the marinade some hours before cooking.
Liam - Oct 21, 2018
A bit more of a kick needed with the chicken otherwise, spot on
Helen - Oct 20, 2018
The amount of liquid was far too much for the amount that the rice wound absorb. Left the rice, beans and onions more as a soup.
Joe - Oct 20, 2018
Jacqueline - Oct 19, 2018
I would have liked chicken a bit hotter but still tasty, I wasn’t keen on rice found it a bit sickly with coconut milk
Chris - Oct 19, 2018
The chicken was great but felt the rice and peas was a little bland.
Steve - Oct 18, 2018
