This incredibly aromatic curry is Inspired by the classic fish curry of Goa, India, which was in turn inspired by the Portuguese. We've taken our inspiration from the top Chefs of London who all prepare their Goan fish curry in slightly different ways. Our flavour pots nod to each of those Indian cuisine connoisseurs by bringing together the tangy tamarind, tomato and onion with the flavours of ginger, garlic, chilli and sweet cloves, all married by a rich coconut milk. Just close your eyes and pretend you're on the warm beaches of Goa!

Our 20 minute recipe

  1. Cook the rice

Cook the rice according to pack instructions. Meanwhile start the curry.

  2. Create the curry base

Heat a little oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and fry for 2 mins.

Add the tomatoes and the GOAN PASTE. Stir for 2-3 mins to soften the onion and tomatoes.

If you're making this with chicken, add it to the pan now and stir-fry for 3-4 mins, then continue with step 3.

  3. Add the coconut milk

Add the COCONUT PASTE and the coconut milk to the pan and gently bring to the boil. Then turn down the heat and simmer for about 5-7 mins until the sauce has thickened slightly.

Stir in the SPICE BLEND and then carefully add the cod (if using). Let the curry simmer for 3-4 mins, or until everything is cooked through.

  4. Serve!

Serve the rice in bowls and ladle the Goan curry over the top with a sprinkle of coriander and a squeeze of lime juice (if using).

Tip: Serve with plain yoghurt alongside for those who might find the curry spicy!

Delicious, I used pollock as I couldn’t get cod and it worked really well, a very cheap meal and full of flavour.

I added a small amount of ???? c hilli and it was really tasty. My wife likes it without chilli's so I just added them at the end.

Made with chicken instead. Wasn't keen on the taste ! My other half enjoyed it though and had seconds.

Nuz - 25th June 2020

It tasted better with butternut squash than chicken as it tasted watered down with chicken

Imran - 25th June 2020

Amazing recipe even better the following day, a slight tip to reduce the coconut milk otherwise too rich to eat. Overall fantastic
