Keralan Prawn Curry4.2/5 (BASED ON reviews)
Our latest dish is a delicate curry featuring the classic spices grown in Kerala - mustard seeds, turmeric and warm spices like cinnamon and clove. Seafood is inabundance off the coconut-tree lined coast so we're going with king prawns. Kerala’s rich trading heritage means that fusion and influences from other culturescan often be seen in their modern day dishes, which is why you'll see courgette in our version. To be truly authentic, serve your curry and rice on a banana leaf!
Cook our delicious Keralan Prawn Curry in just Minutes
We’ve sourced and blended all of the unique flavour ingredients to make our authentic Keralan Prawn Curry. Simply follow our recipe, adding a few items from your fridge, to cook this delicious Keralan Prawn Curry in just 20 minutes.
How Our Recipes Kits Work
We provide flavour ingredients:
- Keralan Paste
- Garlic Paste
- South Indian Garnish
Your shopping list:
- large king prawns cooked or raw
- coconut milk
- Basmati rice
Our 20 minute recipe
Fry the paste
Cook the rice according to pack instructions, then keep warm.
Heat a little oil in a large pan over medium high heat and then fry the onion for 5 mins.
Add the KERALAN PASTE and a splash of water and fry for 2 mins.
Add the veg
Add the courgette slices and the GARLIC PASTE and cook for 2 mins.
Make the sauce
Pour in the coconut milk and gently bring it to the boil. Then reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 5 mins.
Add the prawns and cook for 2 mins (if they're cooked) or 3-4 mins, if raw.
Stir through the SOUTH INDIAN GARNISH and cook for 2 more mins or until the prawns are cooked (they should be firm and opaque in the middle).
Serve the rice in bowls with the Keralan curry over the top.

Delish and not too hot for the children.

Added cherry tomatoes, green beans and peppers to this dish just to add some more variety. Only used 180g of prawns and 1 courgette though. I thought this dish was lovely, which I wasn’t expecting (this is my first review here). If you’re worried about it being too watery, just let it evaporate out — although I didn’t personally think it was watery.

Could maybe have a bit more flavour

Not impressed with this at all. It wasn’t spicy, and I had even add some fresh chilli to the curry. Lacked flavour for me. I’ve had better currie from simply cook.

Oh didn’t like this at all. Tasteless & watery. Sadly a waste of my lovely prawns!
Angela - Jun 19, 2019
Made this with chicken thighs as kids don’t like prawns - was just as good!
Darron - Jun 18, 2019
Tasty but a bit sweet, so added some fresh lime and coriander. Top tip is keep fresh limes and lemons about as will make any dish zip!
Janina - Jun 15, 2019
The best curry so far! Multi-layered flavour, delicious with fish or prawns.

Gill - Apr 30, 2019

This was another recipe sent without me saying I’d have it. My husband hates prawns so I made it with white fish. I also added cherry tomatoes, peppers, sugar snap peas, peas and sweetcorn. It was delicious
