Featured first in a 19th century Russian cookbook, Stroganoff (traditionally with beef) is now a classic dish that’s popular all over the world and comes in many ways. It’s sometimes served with rice but ours comes with mashed potato We’ve given the recipe our own twist by adding horseradish seasoning for the mash, which complements the paprika infused mushrooms very well turning it into a delicious, hearty meal.

We bring these all together in a recipe kit, which consists of 3 flavour pots; a Mushroom Stock pot, a Stroganoff Seasoning pot and a Horseradish Seasoning pot. Simply follow our recipe, adding a few items from your fridge, to cook this delicious Mushroom Stroganoff in just 25 minutes.

Our 25 minute recipe

  • 1.

    Boil the potatoes

    Boil the potatoes for 15-20 mins, or until tender. Meanwhile, do step 2.

  • 2.

    Start the Stroganoff

    Heat a knob of butter in a wide, non-stick pan and then add the onion and fry for 2-3 mins.

    Sprinkle in the STROGANOFF SEASONING and then add the mushrooms and fry for 5 more mins.

    Mix in the tomato purée.


  • 3.

    Create the sauce

    Stir in the MUSHROOM STOCK pot and the cream. Gently bring to the boil then cook for 2 mins on low heat.

  • 4.

    Make the mash

    Drain the potatoes and mash thoroughly with a knob of butter, then mix in the HORSERADISH SEASONING.


  • 5.

    Serve

    Serve the mash and the stroganoff with extra soured cream and a sprinkle of parsley(optional).

Really loved the mushroom stroganoff, such good winter comfort food. I wasn’t sure about mash with stroganoff, I’ve only ever had it with rice and I’m not a fan of horseradish so didn’t add it. I think I’ll try rice next time as the mash texture didn’t quite seem right with stroganoff but the sauce itself was top notch.

The horseradish mash was delicious but the flavour of the stroganoff was too strong for me. Would use half as much spice next time. It was nice to have a dish with mash for a change.
