Achieving an authentic Paella at home might seem difficult but it can be done without a paella pan and with just a few ingredients. We've designed our blends to help you achieve the flavours of the Spanish seaside in your own kitchen. Our saffron and paprika blend will provide the key aromatics while the garlic and parsley notes lift the dish. For another dimension, add a splash of white wine, if you have some open, and a squeeze of lemon to serve would be ideal!

Our 25 minute recipe

  • 1.

    Start the base

Heat some oil in a wide frying pan over medium-high heat and fry the chicken (if using), until golden.

Add the onion, pepper, chorizo and PAELLA GARNISH and fry for 2 mins.

Pour in the chopped tomatoes, mix well and fry for 2 more mins.

  • 2.

    Add the rice

Boil a full kettle of water.

Add the rice, a splash of white wine (if using; see tip) and the SAFFRON SEASONING and stir well.

Stir in the PAELLA PASTE, then add 600ml of boiling water and mix well. Bring it back to the boil and then reduce the heat to medium-low and leave to cook for 15 mins (no lid).

TIP:  If you have some white wine open, add a splash into the rice and stir it in until it has been absorbed before pouring in the stock.

  • 3.

    Add the prawns

Stir the prawns and peas (if using) into the rice and cook for 5 more mins. Add 30ml of water if it’s looking dry, but a little crispiness at the bottom of the rice is tasty.

  • 4.

    Serve!

Squeeze some lemon juice over the paella, and serve with extra lemon wedges.

Easy and so nice

Alexandria - Jan 22, 2019

Very tasty and lovely flavours. Light too considering it's a rice dish. Would recommend!

Jules - Jan 22, 2019

Loved this, a new weekend favourite

Nadia - Jan 21, 2019

Amazing, did not use as much tinned tomatoes as recommended as would have been too tomatoey! Was my fave recipe yet!

Liz - Jan 21, 2019

Don't send again. Too tomatoey not enough flavor

Peter - Jan 19, 2019

Really enjoyed it.

Jodie - Jan 18, 2019

I’ve enjoyed every thing I’ve cooked so far. But this was awful. Had to leave it and order a take away.

Alison - Jan 18, 2019

Absolutely loved this. I didn’t add chicken but having read it was a little bland for some people, I added some garlic.

Nicolas - Jan 17, 2019

Please don't add the chorizo... A real paella shouldn't have it.

Sue - Jan 16, 2019

Tasty & kids really enjoyed it, could just do with a little more kick.

Gemma - Jan 16, 2019

Was very bland

Simon - Jan 15, 2019

Delish!

Dan - Jan 14, 2019

I absolutely love this - we've had it a few times now. Like many other dishes though, the 'optional' chorizo is pretty much essential for that smoky spiciness associated with paella.

Suzanne - Jan 13, 2019

Made it with fish and prawns and was delicious

Andrew - Jan 11, 2019

Flavours really good, but not clear enough that it is a SMALL TIN of tomatoes!

Edward - Jan 10, 2019

Loved it.

Emily - Jan 06, 2019

Delicious

Nigel - Jan 05, 2019

Am still a bit undecided about this one, it tastes great but wash a bit mushy, which was probably down to my cooking. Will have another go at it, and hopefully it will turn out better

Fraser - Jan 05, 2019

Really tasty!

Kathryn - Jan 03, 2019

Good, but not as good as some others.

Gordon - Dec 18, 2018

Lovely! Only gave 3 stars because it didn't have the WOW factor some Simply cook dishes have but that's me being super picky. Would definitely enjoy again.

Fiona - Dec 17, 2018

Not as good as other recipes I’ve tried.

Peter - Dec 17, 2018

As if we where in Spain

Was really tasty and everything was eaten but personally have enjoyed a few of the others recipes more and my dad makes the best paella ever so nothing compares.

Zoe - Dec 06, 2018

Too smoky, overpowered any other flavour in the dish.

Janet - Dec 05, 2018

Fantastic didn’t use chicken cooked with mixed cooked seafood made loads and very delicious and easy

David - Dec 04, 2018

No peppers in the fridge so I substituted roasted (in chilli oil) squash at the end. Yummy.

James - Dec 03, 2018

Really good flavours, the wife was impressed after previously declaring paella wasn't for her...

Lydia - Dec 02, 2018

Tasty

Michael - Nov 30, 2018

Amazing!

Nick - Nov 29, 2018

Was ok but not really like a Spanish paella as way too tomatoey and saffron taste didn’t come through much . More like a tomato risotto than a paella.

Julie - Nov 28, 2018

We loved this. Very authentic and delicious.
