Our 20 minute recipe

  • 1.

    Fry the orka

Cook the rice according to pack instructions. Keep aside.

Meanwhile, heat a little oil in a pan over a medium-high heat then fry the okra for 2 mins to get a little bit of colour on the sides, then remove from the pan.

  • 2.

Cook the chicken in the spices

Next add the onion to the pan and fry for 3-4 mins.

Add the chicken and fry for 2 mins.

Reduce the heat to medium and add the MALI SPICE BLEND with 100ml water. Let it simmer for 3 mins.

  • 3.

Add the tomatoes and peanut butter

Add the cherry tomatoes and the TOMATO PASTE, mix well and cook for 2 mins.

Mix in the peanut butter and COCOA SPICES along with a 200ml of water and then cover it with a lid and let it cook gently over a medium-low heat for 5 mins, or until the chicken is cooked through. If the sauce is too thick, just add more water to loosen it.

  • 4.

    Serve!

Stir the okra into the sauce, then serve the stew over the rice and garnish with peanuts (if using) and a squeeze of lemon, which enhances the flavour.

Jayne - Dec 08, 2018

Yummy but needed a bit more chilli

Andrew - Dec 07, 2018

Dish was tasty but unfortunately could only find frozen okra and this possibly didn’t lead to the dish being it’s best. City living is great but at times makes it hard to find fresh alternative veg

Calum - Dec 06, 2018

Was lit ngl

Amy - Dec 05, 2018

Easy to over cook okra be careful. Flavours good though.

Elizabeth - Nov 30, 2018

Really nice , we couldn’t find Okra in the supermarket so we used tenderstem broccoli instead which was good

Joanna - Nov 28, 2018

Have ordered this again. I thought it might be a bit claggy when I put in the peanut butter, but by the time it was done it had cooked in. Even the husband liked it and he can be funny about peanut flavoured foods

Katherine - Nov 28, 2018

Easy and delicious. Benefits from slightly longer cooking time than stated.

Carole - Nov 27, 2018

So good!

Chloe - Nov 23, 2018

Wasn’t a fan of this one and the kids really didn’t like it, although I really liked the okra, in hindsight I would use less peanut butter and more tomatoes.

Georgina - Nov 21, 2018

Recipe on the app was completely different from the one on the card so the chicken wasn't cooked and it all went in the bin. Emailed simply cook but they haven't responded

Lesley - Nov 19, 2018

Denis - Nov 11, 2018

Very nice

Alison - Nov 10, 2018

This easily made 4 portions. Used green beans instead of okra and cashews instead of peanuts. Forgot the lemon but it tasted great. Loved the mix of unusual spices. Less sugar would be good though.

Nick - Nov 06, 2018

Delicious! Really warming comfort food :-)

Michael - Nov 04, 2018

I loved it even though I forgot to add the lemon at the end. My partner wasn't keen so I had the rest for lunch the next day and it was even nicer.

Anna - Nov 03, 2018

No prep, I just put all the ingredients in my slow cooker and it came out great (I left out the tomatoes and extra peanuts). Quite rich but even my kids liked it. Very like chicken satay really (no great surprise). Recommended and will have again.

linda - Nov 02, 2018

Don't like okra but added broccoli instead and it was lovely, if a little 'clove-y'

Graham - Nov 01, 2018

What a stunning dish

Gemma - Nov 01, 2018

The only recipe we have not liked, the Mali spice blend was awful, the peanut butter quantity made it overpowering also. Not for us I’m afraid 5 thumbs down

Joanne - Oct 30, 2018

Loved it

Heidi - Oct 29, 2018

Favourite meal so far, the whole family agreed

Leigh - Oct 28, 2018

I loved this a lot

Alison - Oct 27, 2018

I thought I liked okra, but I discovered I really don’t! It’s so gluey and I wasn’t keen on the cinnamon flavour. Others may love it though, sorry!

Ciaran - Oct 27, 2018

Very rich

Ciaran - Oct 27, 2018

Ciaran - Oct 27, 2018

Very rich

Pretty awful. No flavour, the okra is just a strange addition and takes a while to prepare the things

The flavour is not what I think should be for that ingredients

Denise - Oct 19, 2018

Eleanor - Oct 13, 2018

so presently surprised, didn't like the smell so was unsure but it taste amazing me and my husband really enjoyed it

Sasha - Oct 10, 2018

Absolutely gorgeous spicy and creamy. Use peanut butter crunchy it works better and no need add extra peanuts.

Sian - Oct 09, 2018

Think I must if added too much peanut butter. Was too peanutty! Go easy on ‘heaped spoonfuls’
